Our Future’s  Field : Experimental and Analytical Apparatus in Biomedical Engineering

Biomedical Engineers conduct devices and procedures that determines medical and health problems by centralizing  their knowledge of biology and medicine with engineering applications and practices. Biomedical engineers establish many experiments and research together with medical scientist and chemist to develop instruments and  products such as artificial organs, medical and health information system etc. Biomedical engineers work in laboratories, hospitals and research centers. Experimental and Analytical apparatus are very important and useful in biomedical engineering.

Incubators: An equipment with a cavity used to grow and maintain microbiological cultures or cells. Incubators has many uses for medical facilitate and experimental work. The incubator allows many outcomes of a biomedical engineer’s work.(Figure 1)

Figure 2

Computer: Technology device such as a computer shown in figure 2 is an important factor in the field of biomedical engineering. Biomedical engineers use computer simulations for drug test. They also use computers for computer animation, computational and medical imaging. Biomedical engineers use computers to consolidate data and control the equipment they use to perform experiments. Computers are used when conducting research and  technical reports to help them gather a lot of information for their work.

PCR Machines : Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) is a strategy for amplifying a DNA molecule by repeatedly breaking down the main part of the DNA sequence. The PCR machine shown in figure 3, provides processes which allows engineers a deeper knowledge and understanding of the gradual development and reasoning of their patient’s medical condition.

Figure 4

Microscope: An essential tool which are used in many biomedical engineering laboratories are microscopes. A microscope is an optical equipment which is used for viewing small thing such as cells displays in figure 4. Biomedical engineers use microscopes to gain reliable data from experiments. Light microscopes are very common in many BME labs because they analyze recently grown cells or DNA. Another kind of microscope that BME use are Scanning electron microscopes because it provides a digital images which are very vital in the experimentation.

In conclusion, Biomedical engineers combine engineering principles with medical and biological sciences to construct new apparatus, devices, computer systems, and software used in medical care. These experimental and analytical tools are very useful because after a Biomedical engineer has finished analyzing  the needs of patients medical problem, they use tools such as computer simulation, microscopes, PCR machines in order to design relevant solutions to improve medical care diagnosis and therapeutic processes for patients.
